Abstrak
Stunting is is a condition of impaired growth in children under five years of age, caused by prolonged nutritional deficiencies and recurrent infections, particularly during the first 1,000 days of life from conception until the age of 23 months. Stunting can adversely affect a child’s cognitive development. According to the Indonesian Ministry of Health, the stunting rate in Indonesia reached 24% in 2021. The country aims to reduce this rate to 14% by 2024. This activity aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a counseling intervention by assessing changes in knowledge regarding stunting prevention through adequate nutritional intake at Gumawang Public Health Center, OKU Timur Regency. The counseling session utilized a PowerPoint presentation covering topics such as the symptoms, impacts, and prevention of stunting, along with the importance of meeting the nutritional needs of pregnant women. The session also included a Q&A discussion and free health screenings, including measurements of weight, height, blood pressure, blood glucose, and cholesterol levels. Participants’ understanding was evaluated descriptively using a questionnaire about stunting and maternal nutrition. The educational intervention effectively increased pregnant women’s knowledge about stunting prevention, which is expected to positively influence their attitudes and behaviors in maintaining proper nutritional status during pregnancy.
