Strategic collaborations and a comprehensive, community-based approach are essential for successful intervention and long-term solutions. Purpose: This activity aims to increase community awareness and knowledge about malaria and its prevention; strengthen local capacity in early detection, treatment, and prevention of malaria; encourage active community involvement in vector control and surveillance efforts; and develop evidence-based policy recommendations for local governments. Method: The approach includes data analysis to create evidence-based treatments for successful malaria management, community focus groups to gauge attitudes toward the disease, stakeholder brainstorming sessions for vector control tactics, and GIS training seminars. Results: A post-implementation assessment showing a decline in cases suggests that the introduction of the malaria mobile health application has greatly raised community awareness and understanding about malaria, including its symptoms, risks, and preventative techniques. Furthermore, by enabling health professionals and policymakers to pinpoint high-risk regions, the GIS has improved efforts to prevent by facilitating data-driven intervention prioritization and more effective resource allocation.
2026-07-30T09:27:13+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat: Humanity and Medicine https://hummed.ejournal.unsri.ac.id/index.php/HummedJ/article/view/232 Empowering Teachers, Parents, and Posyandu Cadres for Monitoring the Nutritional Status of School-Aged Children in Kertapati, Palembang 2026-07-30T14:43:27+00:00 Syarif Husin syarifhusinpohan@gmail.com Ardesy Melizah Kurniati ardesy.gizi@fk.unsri.ac.id Aryani Aziz syarifhusinpohan@gmail.com Medina Athiah syarifhusinpohan@gmail.com Fatma Syukrina syarifhusinpohan@gmail.com Febri Aini Nasution syarifhusinpohan@gmail.com Dwi Lisa Nuraini syarifhusinpohan@gmail.com
Teacher, Parent, and Community Health Volunteer Empowerment for Monitoring the Nutritional Status of School-Aged Children in Kertapati District. Nutritional problems among school-aged children remain a major public health challenge in Indonesia, including Kertapati District, Palembang. Limited nutrition literacy, inadequate anthropometric skills among teachers, parents, and community health volunteers (Posyandu cadres), and the lack of an integrated monitoring system contribute to delayed identification and management of nutritional problems. This community service program aimed to strengthen stakeholders' capacity and establish a sustainable school-based nutritional monitoring system. A participatory, community-based approach was implemented at SDN 195 Kertapati District. The intervention included training on nutrition and standardized anthropometric measurements, family nutrition education, and mentoring for the implementation of an integrated monitoring system. Innovations introduced were the Child Nutrition Card (Kartu Gizi Anak/KGA) as a communication tool linking teachers, parents, and Posyandu cadres, a Teacher's Pocket Guide, and digital data management using Google Sheets. Program effectiveness was evaluated using a pre-test and post-test design. The program significantly improved participants' knowledge and skills. Teachers' median test scores increased from 8.5 to 10, while parents also demonstrated meaningful improvements in nutrition knowledge. Teachers and Posyandu cadres gained competency in standardized anthropometric measurements and WHO growth chart interpretation. In addition, the School Nutrition Monitoring Team was established, and routine use of the Child Nutrition Card strengthened communication and nutritional monitoring. This multisectoral empowerment model effectively established an accurate, structured, and sustainable nutritional monitoring system for school-aged children. The model is recommended for replication in other schools and integration into local health policies.
2026-07-30T12:36:39+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat: Humanity and Medicine https://hummed.ejournal.unsri.ac.id/index.php/HummedJ/article/view/229 Deteksi dini faktor risiko penyakit tidak menular melalui edukasi dan skrining kesehatan pada petugas kebersihan kampus di Makassar 2026-07-30T21:38:50+00:00 Sigit Dwi Pramono sigit.dwipramono@umi.ac.id Berry Erida Hasbi sigit.dwipramono@umi.ac.id Suci Noviyanah Ansary sigit.dwipramono@umi.ac.id
Early detection of non-communicable disease risk factors through health education and screening among campus cleaning staff in Makassar. Non-communicable diseases are the leading cause of death worldwide and in Indonesia, yet cleaning staff as support workers in higher education institutions are rarely targeted by early detection programmes. This community service activity aimed to detect non-communicable disease risk factors early and to deliver health education to cleaning staff at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Muslim Indonesia, Makassar. Conducted on 29 August 2025 using a participatory approach, it comprised three integrated stages: group health education, health screening, and individual counselling. Screening covered body weight, height, waist circumference, blood pressure, random blood glucose, and total cholesterol. All cleaning staff on duty were enrolled by total sampling, and the data were analysed descriptively. Of the 36 participants, 32 (88.9%) were women, with a mean age of 42.6 ± 11.9 years, and 23 (63.9%) had completed junior secondary education or less. Obesity was found in 18 participants (50.0%) and overweight in 8 (22.2%). Central obesity was identified in 23 participants (63.9%), comprising 21 of 32 women (65.6%) and 2 of 4 men (50.0%). Suboptimal blood pressure was found in 25 participants (69.4%), of whom 16 (44.4%) met the criteria for hypertension. Five participants (13.9%) were prediabetic and 3 (8.3%) diabetic, while 4 (11.1%) had borderline total cholesterol. All participants with abnormal results received counselling and referral to primary health care. These findings confirm a high burden of non-communicable disease risk factors among cleaning staff, particularly women.
2026-07-30T21:38:50+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat: Humanity and Medicine https://hummed.ejournal.unsri.ac.id/index.php/HummedJ/article/view/234 Konseling pola makan gizi seimbang pada atlet remaja di Pertukaran Pemuda antar Provinsi (PPAP) dan Sentra Pembinaan Olahragawan Berbakat Nasional (SPOBNAS) Wisma Atlet Jakabaring Palembang 2026-07-30T23:47:13+00:00 Fatmalina Febry fatmalina_FKMunsri@yahoo.com Ditia Fitri Arinda fatmalina@fkm.unsri.ac.id Ira Dewi Ramadhani Ramadhani fatmalina_FKMunsri@yahoo.com Naila Syafira fatmalina_FKMunsri@yahoo.com
Balanced Nutrition Counseling on Dietary Patterns among Adolescent Athletes at Pertukaran Pemuda antar Provinsi (PPAP) dan Sentra Pembinaan Olahragawan Berbakat Nasional (SPOBNAS), Jakabaring Athlete Dormitory, Palembang. Adolescent athletes have high energy and nutrient requirements because they are in a period of growth while also engaging in moderate- to high-intensity physical training. However, irregular eating patterns and low nutrition knowledge remain common problems among athletes living in training dormitories. This activity aimed to assess nutrient adequacy levels and provide balanced nutrition counseling for adolescent athletes at the Jakabaring Athlete Dormitory, Palembang. The methods included anthropometric measurements, dietary intake assessment using a 24-hour food recall, analysis of nutrient adequacy levels, and nutrition counseling. The subjects consisted of 21 adolescent athletes from various sports disciplines. The results showed that most athletes experienced severe deficits in energy intake (81%), protein (81%), fat (33.3%), and carbohydrates (90.5%). These conditions were influenced by habits of skipping meals, low consumption of snacks, and limited awareness of the importance of balanced nutrition. Nutrition counseling emphasized the implementation of balanced dietary patterns, meal timing management, utilization of available foods in the dormitory, selection of healthier snacks, and appropriate fluid intake management. This activity demonstrates that sports nutrition counseling plays an important role in improving athletes’ knowledge and awareness of meeting nutritional requirements, thereby supporting the health, fitness, and performance of adolescent athletes.
2026-07-30T23:24:56+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat: Humanity and Medicine https://hummed.ejournal.unsri.ac.id/index.php/HummedJ/article/view/245 Peningkatan literasi digital (Pelita) layanan kesehatan inklusif untuk komunitas transgender di Palembang 2026-07-31T02:08:46+00:00 Rizma Adlia Syakurah rizma.syakurah@gmail.com Muhamad Ridwan Afandi muhamad_ridwan_afandi@fkm.unsri.ac.id Fitri Aulia fitri_aulia@fkm.unsri.ac.id Putri Inrian Tari putri_inrian_tari@fkm.unsri.ac.id Muhammad Naufan Rizqullah muhammad_naufan_rizqullah@fkm.unsri.ac.id
Enhancing Digital Literacy (PELITA) for Inclusive Health Care Services among Transgender Communities in Palembang. This community engagement program addresses the digital literacy gap that hinders transgender communities in Palembang from accessing inclusive digital health services. Despite Indonesia’s rapid digital health transformation. through platforms such as Mobile JKN, SATUSEHAT, Halodoc, and Alodokter. Many transgender individuals encounter layered barriers including limited technical skills, low confidence, and history of discrimination in health facilities. The PELITA program was designed to enhance their e-health literacy through a participatory and community-based approach. Activities included needs assessment, conceptual training on digital health literacy and data security, hands-on practice using major digital health applications, and individualized assistance through the Klinik Digital Mandiri. Data were collected using pre-test, post-test, observation sheets, and brief interviews. Quantitative analysis using descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon test showed a significant improvement in participants’ knowledge, with increases in correct responses and enhanced ability to navigate health applications. Qualitative findings indicated notable progress in participants’ competence in creating and managing email accounts, accessing digital queues, retrieving electronic medical records, conducting teleconsultations, and evaluating the credibility of online health information. The program also strengthened psychological readiness and confidence in interacting with digital health services. To ensure sustainability, Digital Literacy Ambassadors were appointed from among participants who demonstrated strong competence and motivation. Overall, the PELITA program successfully improved transgender community members’ capacity to access and utilize digital health services independently and safely, while fostering an inclusive health ecosystem that supports their rights and reduces inequalities in digital health access

2026-07-31T02:03:48+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat: Humanity and Medicine https://hummed.ejournal.unsri.ac.id/index.php/HummedJ/article/view/241 Peningkatan pengetahuan kader posyandu dalam penanganan luka dan pencegahan infeksi di Puskesmas Taman Bacaan kota Palembang 2026-07-31T03:28:17+00:00 Veny Larasati venylarasati@fk.unsri.ac.id Zen Hafy zenhafy@fk.unsri.ac.id Soilia Fertilita soilia.fertilita@fk.unsri.ac.id Riana Sari Puspita Rasyid rasyid.riana17@gmail.com Ajeng Intan Estri Amanda ajengintan10@gmail.com
Community empowerment is a strategic step to improve quality of life by increasing individual and community capacity, particularly in the health sector. Integrated service post (Pos Pelayanan Terpadu / Posyandu) cadres at the Taman Bacaan Community Health Center in Palembang City face challenges in recognizing wound types, prioritizing initial treatment, performing proper wound cleansing techniques, applying infection prevention principles, and determining the appropriate time to refer patients to health facilities. This situation highlights the need for educational interventions and community-based practical training to improve the capacity of cadres to provide safe and appropriate first aid. The goal of this integrated health post (Posyandu) cadre empowerment program is to improve their capacity in treating minor injuries and preventing infections in the community. The activity was conducted on October 25, 2025, with 54 cadres participating. Pre-tests and post-tests served as the evaluation instruments. The results were analyzed using descriptive analysis of the cadres' demographics and an analysis of their knowledge (based on pre-test and post-test scores). The analysis indicates a consistent increase in knowledge among all participants. The average pre-test score was 5.55, while the average post-test score was 8.11. This represents an increase of 2.56 points—or 46.1%—from the baseline, demonstrating that knowledge improved following the training. These findings are reinforced by the positive delta scores observed across all participants, confirming that the training had a consistent impact on cadres regardless of their educational background, age, or length of experience.
2026-07-31T02:41:34+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat: Humanity and Medicine https://hummed.ejournal.unsri.ac.id/index.php/HummedJ/article/view/254 Edukasi perkembangan sosioemosional bagi guru PAUD untuk mendukung kesehatan mental anak usia dini 2026-07-31T04:47:14+00:00 Sayang Ajeng Mardhiyah ajeng_mardhiyah.psi@fk.unsri.ac.id Hertanti Indah Lestari hertantilestari@unsri.ac.id Rosada Dwi Iswari rd.iswari@fk.unsri.ac.id Yudianita Kesuma yudianita@fk.unsri.ac.id
Socio-emotional development education for early childhood educators to support the mental health of young children. The socio-emotional development of young children is a crucial foundation for mental health and psychosocial adaptation. The early childhood education (PAUD) environment plays a strategic role in supporting this development through teacher-child interactions; however, teachers’ limited understanding of socio-emotional development remains a challenge in implementing learning approaches that support children’s mental health. This activity aims to enhance early childhood education teachers’ knowledge of children’s socioemotional development through educational materials such as videos, brochures, and interactive discussions. Participants consisted of 42 early childhood education teachers in Palembang City who took pre- and post-tests. The results showed an increase in knowledge from an average of 71.29 to 80.55, with a significant difference (t = 3.55; p = 0.001). Participant feedback also indicated improved understanding of the importance of children’s socio-emotional development, as well as a need for more practical follow-up training. These findings suggest that social-emotional education for early childhood education teachers has the potential to serve as a strategy in supporting the promotion of mental health in young children.
2026-07-31T04:40:56+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat: Humanity and Medicine https://hummed.ejournal.unsri.ac.id/index.php/HummedJ/article/view/267 Pemberdayaan keluarga melalui program home visit dalam pengelolaan penyakit kronis di Klinik Pratama Seno Medika Bandung 2026-07-31T06:12:10+00:00 Fifi Veronica fifi@unpad.ac.id Galih Priarti fifi@unpad.ac.id Fauzi A Buntoro fifi@unpad.ac.id Raihan H. The success of therapy is influenced by various factors, including the patient's clinical condition, family support, socioeconomic status, health behaviors, and the condition of caregivers. Family empowerment through a home visit program is considered one of the primary healthcare strategies that enables a more comprehensive identification of factors affecting chronic disease management. This community service activity aimed to describe the biopsychosocial factors influencing the successful management of chronic diseases through home visits and community-based health assistance. The program was conducted through home visits to Prolanis patients under the care of Seno Medika Clinic Bandung who attended routine follow-up visits less than three times a year (<3 visits/year) during February–March 2026. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, home environment observations, simple physical examinations, and discussions with family members. The findings were analyzed narratively based on clinical, social, health behavior, and family dynamics aspects. The results showed that chronic disease management was influenced by family dynamics and the role of caregivers, differences in individual self-management abilities, psychological conditions, and patients' knowledge of their disease. At the end of each visit, educational sessions were provided to patients, family members, and caregivers based on the identified problems. Home visits were able to identify various health determinants that were not detected through facility-based healthcare services. A family-centered approach and caregiver empowerment are essential components of chronic disease management to improve patients' quality of life and prevent further deterioration in the health of other family members.
2026-07-31T06:12:10+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat: Humanity and Medicine
