Good and proper care for children who are in the growth and development period will help children to grow healthy and be able to achieve their optimal abilities so that they can contribute better to society. The main objectives of this community service are to improve the skills of Early Childhood Education (ECE) teachers to detect early growth and development disorders, reduce the number of advanced growth and development disorders, and optimize child growth and development with early intervention. The method of service carried out in this activity is in the form of training on the use of the PRIMAKU application for 1000 ECE teachers in Palembang City and assessed using pre-test and post-test questionnaires. The results of the counseling showed an increase in results in two benchmarks, an increase in participant knowledge based on the results of the pre-test and post-test correct answers by 17.03%. Furthermore, it is expected that PAUD teachers who have attended the training can apply the use of the PRIMAKU application for early detection of growth and development disorders or delays in early childhood.
Hertanti Indah Lestari Yudianita Kesuma Ariesti Karmila Dewi Rosariah Ayu Atika Akbari Copyright (c) 2025 Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat: Humanity and Medicine 2025-03-31 2025-03-31 6 1 1 11 10.32539/Hummed.V6I1.151 Pengendalian skabies dan pedikulosis melalui pengobatan dan penyuluhan perilaku hidup bersih dan sehat (PHBS) https://hummed.ejournal.unsri.ac.id/index.php/HummedJ/article/view/149
Neglected tropical diseases, including scabies and pediculosis, are diseases that are still a health problem in Indonesia. Islamic boarding schools are risky locations with a high prevalence of scabies and pediculosis because they have dense housing, lack of environmental sanitation and personal hygiene. This service activity aimed to increase knowledge about preventing and treating scabies and pediculosis in Pondok Pesantren X, South Sumatra. A total of 46 students with complaints of itching on the skin and head were present as participants in the activity which has been carried out in November 2023. The implementation of service consists of examination, counseling, as well as pretest and posttest. The scabies examination method was carried out clinically according to IACS 2020 criteria, while pediculosis examination was carried out with a serit combs. Counseling activities on the topic of clean and healthy living behavior was began and ended with the pretest and posttest. From the examination activities, it was found that 95% (44) students suffered scabies and 36% (17) students suffered pediculosis. Participants were quite enthusiastic in participating in counseling activities, as evidenced by the number of questions related to clean and healthy living behavior in daily activities at Islamic boarding schools. The counseling activity was quite successful, which can be seen from the increase in the correct value and significance (p < 0.05) of the pretest and posttest results.
Gita Dwi Prasasty Dwi Handayani Dalilah Dalilah Susilawati Susilawati Desi Oktariana Mareska Reggina Kristalia Attina Khairani Copyright (c) 2025 Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat: Humanity and Medicine 2025-03-31 2025-03-31 6 1 12 26 10.32539/Hummed.V6I1.149 Penyuluhan mengenai pencegahan kebutaan akibat katarak di Puskesmas Merdeka Palembang https://hummed.ejournal.unsri.ac.id/index.php/HummedJ/article/view/166
Unoperated cataracts and uncorrected refractive errors are the most common causes of visual impairment worldwide. Although it has a significant impact on both the physical and mental health of individuals with DSD, DSD cases are often undetected and underdiagnosed. Efforts to enrich material and learning to training on DSD for prospective midwife health workers are one of the real actions that can be taken to increase knowledge and awareness of DSD which is then expected to increase early identification efforts to improve the quality of life and patient outcomes. This community service activity was carried out for one semester through a series of activities in the form of guest lectures for enrichment of learning which were carried out in stages three times online for 55 students of STIKES Abdurrahman Palembang. Measurement of the level of knowledge of STIKES Abdurrahman students was carried out twice, namely before the series of activities began (pre-test) and after the activities were completed (post-test). From the results of the pre- and post-test, an increase in knowledge was obtained, which was originally only 36.4% with a sufficient level of knowledge at the time of the pre-test, to 69.1% with a sufficient level of knowledge at the time of the post-test. It is hoped that with the enrichment of learning, prospective midwives can know and understand DSD so that in the future they can improve early screening for ambiguous genitalia cases which can lead to improving the quality of life of sufferers.

Ziske Maritska Syifa Alkaf Rara Inggarsih Zen Hafy Septi Purnamasari Rini Nindela Copyright (c) 2025 Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat: Humanity and Medicine 2025-03-31 2025-03-31 6 1 35 49 10.32539/Hummed.V6I1.163 Pelatihan tenaga kesehatan dalam penegakan diagnosis penyakit menular seksual dengan pemeriksaan mikroskopis sederhana di fasilitas kesehatan primer https://hummed.ejournal.unsri.ac.id/index.php/HummedJ/article/view/162
Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) encompass a range of infectious diseases that can be attributed to parasites, bacteria, viruses, or fungi. Inaccurate diagnosis can lead to ineffective treatment and increase transmission rates. The survey also indicated that factors such as lower-middle income levels and the female gender are relatively more likely to utilize medicinal plants compared to higher-income levels and the male gender. The findings from this health survey strongly support the characteristics of the target audience for this community service, specifically the residents of Karya Baru Village represented by the women in Majelis Taklim Al-Kahfi. Initial interviews with several members of this group revealed a tendency to self-treat sick family members, particularly using herbal remedies, as they are perceived to have no side effects compared to modern medications (synthetic drugs). These findings indicate a potential irrational use of herbal medicine in self-medication practices. Self-medication refers to the efforts made by individuals to determine treatments for their disease symptoms. For self-medication practices to be safe and effective, it is essential for the community to be equipped with adequate knowledge about the rational use of herbal medicines. Therefore, a community service initiative is necessary to enhance public knowledge regarding the types of herbal medicines and promote rational behaviors on self-medication practice of herbal medicines within the community.
Ayeshah Augusta Rosdah Masayu Syarinta Adenina Nita Parisa Debby Handayati Harahap Evi Lusiana Fatmawati Fatmawati Copyright (c) 2025 Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat: Humanity and Medicine 2025-03-31 2025-03-31 6 1 64 76 10.32539/Hummed.V6I1.169 Edukasi interaktif kesehatan bayi dan balita sebagai pencegahan stunting melalui program belajar lapangan di Desa Burai https://hummed.ejournal.unsri.ac.id/index.php/HummedJ/article/view/156
Stunting is a nutritional problem in toddlers and is still a public health problem in developing countries like Indonesia.
