Electronic Archiving
Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat: Humanity and Medicine (published by Universitas Sriwijaya) implements comprehensive electronic archiving standards to guarantee the security, sustainability, traceability, and long-term accessibility of its entire scholarly publication record. This digital preservation policy is designed in compliance with global ethical standards.
To fulfill this commitment, Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat: Humanity and Medicine divides its archiving strategy into several main pillars:
1. Journal Content Management and Storage
The entire manuscript management process, from submission and peer review to the post-publication track record, is operated centrally through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform of Universitas Sriwijaya (official link: https://hummed.ejournal.unsri.ac.id/index.php/HummedJ).
The permanent electronic archive elements that we maintain on our servers include:
- All final articles that have been officially published (Version of Record).
- Publication document files (PDF copies of the issues/articles).
- Complete bibliographic metadata (authors' names, affiliations, abstracts, keywords).
- Issue identity structure (Volume, Number, Year, and Pages).
- Digital Object Identifier (DOI) links of the articles.
- Other supporting publishing data essential for maintaining the academic history of the manuscripts.
2. Electronic Data Backup (Disaster Recovery Backup)
To mitigate the risk of data loss due to force majeure—such as server damage, hardware failures, network disruptions, or system errors—the journal management team, together with the IT management unit of Universitas Sriwijaya, conducts regular and scheduled data backups.
This backup system serves as an emergency recovery step (disaster recovery), ensuring that all manuscript copies and operational data of Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat: Humanity and Medicine can be immediately restored without disrupting accessibility for readers and authors.
3. Long-term Digital Preservation
Unlike backups, which are intended for emergency recovery, digital preservation focuses on ensuring that articles remain accessible to future generations, even if the primary journal system undergoes technological changes in the future. As a journal operating under the OJS infrastructure, it supports standard digital preservation frameworks.
4. Authors' Self-Archiving Rights (Green Open Access / Self-Archiving)
As a manifestation of our support for the free dissemination of knowledge and community service outcomes (Open Access), Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat: Humanity and Medicine implements a Zero Embargo policy. We grant full rights to authors to self-archive their final manuscripts (Version of Record) immediately after the articles are officially published.
Authors are highly encouraged to store and distribute copies of their manuscripts through the following channels:
- The author's institutional/university repository (e.g., Universitas Sriwijaya Repository / repository.unsri.ac.id).
- National or international scientific repositories relevant to the fields of medicine, health, and community service.
- Academic and professional networks (such as ResearchGate, Academia.edu, Google Scholar, SINTA).
- The author's personal website or blog.
5. Terms and Conditions for Self-Archiving
To ensure that self-archiving remains aligned with publication ethics, authors are required to comply with the following conditions:
- Source Attribution: Authors must explicitly state that the article was first published in Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat: Humanity and Medicine.
- Traceability: Authors must include the official DOI link or a URL that leads directly to the article's page on the journal's website.
- Data Integrity: It is strictly prohibited to alter the substance of the title, author list, abstract, or bibliographic information of the manuscript.
- License Compliance: The archiving process must retain copyright information and adhere to the open license terms used by the journal (e.g., Creative Commons Attribution / CC BY).
6. Sustainability of Academic Records in Cases of Correction/Retraction
Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat: Humanity and Medicine guarantees that every published article is part of the permanent academic record. If, in the future, there is a correction (Correction/Erratum), retraction, or withdrawal of a manuscript due to ethical violations, we will not remove the original document from the electronic archiving system. This is done to maintain the integrity and honesty of the historical record of scientific literature.
